Osteopathy Services in Christchurch, New Zealand

Osteopathy is a type of ‘hands-on’ therapy which recognizes and emphasizes the vital connection between the body's structure and the way it functions. Osteopaths believe the body´s ability to self-heal and self-regulate. Sometimes, you need some help to facilitate that process, and that is where Osteopathy comes in.

Helps to restore muscles tension, restrictions to movement, improving blood and lymphatic circulation and by addressing any lifestyle factors that may be preventing recovery.

Osteopathic practitioner sees himself as a facilitator to health rather than a fixer or a healer. Osteopathy focuses on how your joints, muscles, nerves, and circulation work together as a whole to improve your health & well-being.

To become an Osteopath, it takes 4-5 years of a full-time master's degree course.

WHAT DO OSTEOPATHS DO?

An Osteopath looks at the entire body and goes further than the site of an injury by assessing areas that may be contributing to the pain.

Our Osteopath takes a thorough history, a visual and hands-on postural and movement assessment to find the actual cause of your pain, followed with a treatment using suitable techniques.

Standard treatment may involve Gentle Spinal Joint Articulation, Soft Tissue Massage, Myofascial Release, Spinal Joints Adjustment, Muscle Energy Technique, Muscle Activation Technique, Taping, Cranial Osteopathy and Abdominal Visceral Manipulation Technique (Organ Manipulation).

Our Osteopaths prescribe specific rehabilitation exercises to improve muscle activation, coordination/balance, strength and practical application on how to improve posture to speed up your recovery.
